11 Signs to Find Your Cat’s Health

As a responsible cat owner, you will always take care that your pet is booming in health and leading a happy life with no health problems. It is a bonus for you when your pet is in good condition without suffering from any illnesses. Normally, pet parents are not aware of when their pet is suffering from illness or not. You may not know the simple signs of normal health that help you recognize that your kitty is healthy or not. Finding any deviation from the routine behavior, you can look upon your cat health care.

  1. Bright eyes
Clear and shiny eyes symbolize good health. Your cat’s eyes need to be clear, free of discharge, alert and clearly focused.

Your cat’s nose should be clean, and soft and damp to touch. It should be free of any discharge. A healthy cat should not have a running nose or sneeze consistently.

Clear ears with no brown discharge and scabs portray sigh of good health. There should be no inflammation, redness, itchiness or offensive smells.

A healthy cat has a good appetite. If you keep a watch on her regular diet, it would be easier for you to notice if she ever exhibits decrease or increase in appetite. A sudden change in diet can be a warning for you. So, gauge her appetite to have a baseline for future readings.

Proper digestion with no frequent attacks of vomiting and diarrhea show that your cat has better digestion system. Keep a check that your cat’s stool should be a consistent brown color of solid texture, without any straining blood or mucus passed. 
  1. Healthy Skin and Coat
Your cat coat shines with no matt when it’s healthy. Depending on the pigments common to the breed, your cat’s skin may be pink or black. A healthy coat should be thick with no bald patches, broken hair, dandruff and fleas. Hair shed in summer and autumn is normal.
  1. Healthy Nails
Nails that are healthy are smooth and can be either white or black. To ensure good health of your feline’s nails, squeeze gently on the pads to allow the nails to emerge for proper exam. Also, check their dewclaws.
  1. Normal Temperature and Heart Rate
An adult cat has a normal body temperature that ranges from 100 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Moreover, the heart rate ranges from 110 to 240 beats per minute in a healthy cat. A regular vet visit can keep a track of your cat’s essentials. 
  1. Normal Behavior
Your cat’s general attitude towards life tells you a lot about her behavioral health. Being playful, sleeping in her usual place and littering in the box all states her good health. Nevertheless, keep a close look on her unusual behavior for hidden illnesses. 
  1. Ideal Weight
Find the normal body weight of your cat according to her age, size and breed talking to your vet. Obesity is not good and too thin frame can make your cat prone to illnesses. A normal weight according to your vet can help you maintain his body weight keeping him/her healthy.
  1. Happy Disposition
Overall, good health makes your cat happy, jolly, playful, active, interested and athletic. You are the right person to know your cat’s happy state of mind. You can easily find any deviation from her regular activities and her playful nature.
